Terminate fairly for both your business & the employees. Our recommended approach

The layoff notice is an important document not only for the dismissal meeting but also for legal purposes if the employee files a unlawful dismissal law suit. Take the time to get to know your employees. So when you don't give a reason for a lay off, the worker can only believe you're dismissing her for an illegal reason which you don't want to talk about.

This makes it hard for the employee's legal adviser to argue you acted rashly and unfairly when you separated his client. Since this is a discussion, you don't need a management witness as in a traditional separation meeting. Unfortunately, automation means owners must fire more personnel. You may be a small business owner, a supervisor of personnel for a larger company, or a supervisor of a organization assigned the task of dimissing a jobholder. This section considers 4 questions I often get about terminations. Generally when a manager fires someone, he or she has valid reasons. Not considering the need to downsize your organization, now and then you are faced with terminating a salaried monthly worker. This means giving employees an opportunity to redeem themselves after you have taken reformatory action against them. This means talking with the worker accused of misbehavior and carrying out an investigation. While you should treat these excuses with a certain degree of fairness, use your worker handbook and standard policies to your advantage. This will show you how to prepare the dismissal package and release as well as other preparation steps. Otherwise, you find yourself in the middle of a improper termination legal action.
